N.Y.L.A. + Some Design Inspiration

AGGTS is a fan of designer "inspiration". I know that there are many of you out there who shudder at the thought but for those of us who can't afford the real thing at the present moment it is much appreciated. I'm never going to say "shame on you" but I certainly won't disparage those who do. To each his own I say and until the day I can afford the real thing I will continue to enjoy a designer look at a fraction of the price.

Louboutin Circus Ankle Boots

N.Y.L.A. Culver Bootie

I am definitely partial to the Loubie but if you are looking to stand out from the crowd this stylish cut out bootie will definitely do the trick. The Culver features a patent leather upper combined with mesh cut outs. A back zip will make for easy on and off and the 1/2 inch platform will offset that 4 1/2 inch heel just a wee bit.

Prada Studded Platform Slingback - good luck finding this one.

N.Y.L.A. - Slinger

Hmm... not much difference here, other than the heel. And the price. There's that too. Let's just say there is a strong possibility these will be gracing my doorstep. The hubs owes me 2 pairs of shoes and I think it's about time to collect.

Prada Spring 09

This is a continuation of Monday's post. Since there were quite a few pairs from the Spring collection that caught my eye I thought I'd split up the love throughout the week. Nice, huh?

Crisscross Platform

Oh that platform is killing me. I love it so much. Python meets brown leather in this pretty as a picture sandal by Prada. A delicate crisscross strap connected by a gold stud adorns the top of your foot. Move a little further down and that pattern in repeated in the straps intersecting just before your toes begin. These details are so simple yet so perfect. Delicious.

Satin and Leather Platform

Alright so I'm fairly certain I've made it clear just how much I love that platform so I won't mention it again. Instead I'll talk about the petal soft satin straps. I love the wrinkled and what looks like a bit of bleaching detail. Then add not a 5 inch but a 5.5 inch heel. Holy heel, batman!

Prada Spring 09

I received an email from Saks Fifth Avenue the other day touting the new Prada Spring 09 collection. Naturally, I had to check it out. I found quite a few pairs that tickled my fancy. I am loving the simplicity of the collection. Gorgeous shoes with a few key details that make them anything but ordinary.

Platform Slingbacks

Stunning. I absolutely adore this slingback pump. The contrasting tobacco and camel hued leather. The cap toe. The stitching and the knotted cross strap all set atop that five tiered stitched platform that brings the aesthetics of this shoe up to a whole new level. This shoe is bound to be an instant classic.

Knotted Sandals

More knotted leather and stitching. I'm sensing a theme and loving it. A wonderful more summery version of the slingback pump this sandal is equally as stunning. It's so simple yet oozes with elegance and rich details. You would never guess that the heel is 5 inches just by looking at it. Never fear though. That smidge of platform will make these a little easier to walk in.

Sequined Encrusted Dreams

Got an email from Neiman Marcus. Prada resort collection was the word of the day. Thought I'd check it out. How could I not? It was there I spotted these.

Only I spotted them in black. The above picture is from the Saks Fifth Avenue website. I couldn't save the picture from the Neiman's website. You'll find the black pair here. Aren't they lovely? The color palette is astounding. Oh they are sublime. Gorgeous with your LBD or your favorite pair of skinny jeans or a simple white shirt and black pencil skirt.

And then while I was perusing through the selection of Prada Resort 2009 that the buyers at Saks picked up, I spotted these. Ugh. Me want.

Seriously??? What's not to love?

Riding Boots

The Lucky shoe guide concludes with riding boots. Classic and comfortable I'm not sure the riding boot ever goes out of style. See below for a few of my faves.

Platinum

Prada Logo Riding Boot

That supple leather looks like it would caress your calf so delicately and the ankle buckle detail and iconic Prada logo all but scream luxury.

Argh! It's the chain heel detail that really gets me here. It lends such an edgy vibe. Wouldn't these be just perfect with a pretty winter floral dress?

June Riding Boot by Franco Sarto

Mmmm... chocolate.... a gorgeous color, this looks like a GREAT boot for the price. The top buckle detail is so perfect and the sheen of the leather makes these look much more expensive than they really are.

Prada Fall 08 - Runway vs. Everyday

The Prada Fall 2008 collections have arrived! Bergdorf Goodman,Saks, and Neimans all have a varying degree of choices for those who are so inclined. I am really digging some of the new styles that came off the runway and also a few pairs that were designed to be a little more "everyday". A couple of my favorites seem almost art deco inspired and one pair is in fact called the "Art Deco" Pump. So please enjoy my picks of the good, the great, and the "What were they thinking?"

The Good

I like these. Some of you may think I'm crazy, but bear with me. The design element is kind of cool and definitely reminiscent of the art deco period. There is visual interest both coming and going. They also have a 1930's/1940's feel to them. However, I am so not loving the ankle strap. Thankfully it is removable so it's really a non-issue.

Hmmm...I'm really torn on this pair. I love the sculpted shape of the heel but I'm not sure how I feel about the slingback that's not really a slingback. This shoe seems to be having a bit of an identity crisis. I'm game with one or the other but both??? I would love to see these on.

I am having a love/hate relationship with this suede sandal. The ruffled "shrug" is a tad off but that's also why I like them. Strange, I know. I don't pretend to understand the inner workings of my mind.

The Great

Mmmmm...Gray Suede Mary Janes... The covered platform, the cone shaped heel - so, so pretty and in the perfect shade of gray.

I know, I know some of you may call me crazy but as far as I'm concerned all you need is your Isaac Mizrahi for Target or Forever 21 LBD and these. Enough said.

This bootie is hot! I love the criss cross detail at the ankle and the cut out detail. A little glam and a little rocker chic.

Mmmm...the color combo is just perfect here. I love the classic shape, I love everything.

Rouching is EVERYWHERE! In my opinion, Prada does it right in this boot. You could seriouly rock these with your favorite pair of skinny jeans.

"What Were They Thinking?"

Um...no, your eyes are not deceiving you. Believe it or not those two pictures belong together. Neiman Marcus seems to be the only department store brave enough to carry them. The two piece lace up bootie. It's a boot. It's a bootie. It's in two pieces. Awesome.

Okay so they aren't horrible. But the detail on the toe, it makes me think of cinnamon sticks and apple pie and coffee. I think I'll pass.

Purple Reign

After the Fall 08 fashion shows style mavens everywhere were making the prediction that purple would reign supreme. Whether you prefer aubergine or eggplant, violet or mauve this color promises to pop up everywhere. Designers like Gucci, Prada, and Miu Miu (to name a few) are showing it in shoes.

Other designers are sure to follow suit so be on the look out and get a pretty little pair for yourself.

Don't be afraid of the hue. Purple looks great with all the neutrals and will add the perfect pop of color to your wardrobe.
