Nothing like....

hosting a contest and then disappearing for three weeks, huh? OMG you guys I am so sorry. I have been dealing with so much lately. My aunt passed away and then I had a HUGE project due for one of my classes that took way more time than I ever anticipated. The good news is that my project wrapped up on Wednesday and life is finally starting to get back to normal which means I'm back to semi-regular blog posting! It also means that "We have a winner!" Now I'll quit chattering about and just get to it. Thank you so much for being so patient with me.

And the winner is....

Sarah J!!!!!!

Here is what Sarah had to say about her top pick.

Blogger SarahJ said...

Oooo, I had such a hard time choosing my favorite. I've narrowed it down to Dakota in brown or Freewau in tan. I've been searching for a great BLACK boot, but these brown/tan ones are so great!

Congrats Sarah and enjoy your new boots!

Did Somebody Say Free Shoes?

Let's talk shoes, shall we? More specifically let's talk boots.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the lovely folks over at Wanted Shoes asking me if I would be interested in trying out a pair of their shoes. I could pick anything that I wanted from the site. Anything at all. I don't think I could get that mouse moving fast enough! I tell ya, I was like a kid in a candy store. At one point I had "narrowed" it down to five pairs. And after enlisting the help of a couple fashion savvy co-workers I eventually decided on these...

Lisbon - Wanted Shoes

The whole process from start to finish was ridiculously easy. I received a notification email the same day I placed my order that the boots had shipped. Talk about quick! And despite the fact that I did receive these boots for free please know that my opinion is nothing but honest. I would never steer you guys wrong. You all mean too much to me. I must say I have been pleasantly surprised with these boots. As a general rule I tend not to purchase shoes that are made out of synthetic leather (my apologies to my vegan readers) but this boot may make me reconsider that. I think the fact that "leather" has been distressed gives them more of a luxurious look and feel and they are ridiculously comfortable. I've already worn them twice. Here is one way below.

All in all I am thrilled with the Lisbon boot from Wanted Shoes! Now don't you think for a second that I'm going to talk all about my wonderful pair of free shoes without one of you all getting something out of the bargain.

The oh so generous folks over at Wanted have also offered a free pair of shoes for one of my readers!!!!!

See below for the rules on how to enter.

Entry 1: Leave a comment on this post telling me your email address and what your favorite shoe is from the site.

Entry 2: Tweet the link to your favorite pair of shoes and be sure to mention @wantedshoes

Entry 4: Be a follower or follow @AGGTS on Twitter

The more you do the more chances to win! The contest runs until the end of the week and I'll announce the winner at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Good luck everyone!

Interview With THE Shoe Designers (Part 2)

I had SO much fan with Katelyn and her sister Mattison. They were kind enough to let me try on some of their amazing shoes. Lucky me!

AGGTS & Katelyn of KM2 shoes

Admiring what was easily my favorite pair

For part 1 be sure to check out yesterday's post. And now without further adieu, part 2 of my interview with KM2 shoes.

AGGTS: What role does each one of you have within the company?

Katelyn: I am director of operations. I oversee nuts and bolts stuff, AKA paperwork. Mattison is Director of Sales and Marketing, she is a selling machine and a huge driving force behind the company, she has quite an edge! Megan is a genius... I mean seriously, she dreams up new shoes and wakes up and makes them, she is the creative director.

Truth is though that we all sort of cross our borders as far as our roles, we all have so many ideas to bring to the table whether its design (we all have 3 completely different styles and tastes which make for a great blend), or even on the business and selling aspect... Km2 is a sister team effort with a capital T.

AGGTS: As a customer what should I know if I want to order a pair of KM2 shoes from your website?

Katelyn: You should know that not every style is up on the website... we interchange them to keep things fresh. We are constantly producing new shoes, new styles, new colors! That's why you've got to check the site constantly and follow us on facebook and twitter at shopkm2 and also our blog! We post new shoes and inspiration all the time. You should also know that we sometimes use vintage pieces as the main custom element to our shoes. That means that no two pairs are exactly alike so you may receive a slight variation in ornaments, which is part of the excitement. And also if you see a shoe you love and maybe you have an idea for a color you would like to add or are looking at a style to match a certain outfit, than email us at info@km2shoes.com. Let us talk it out with you, design you exactly what you want!

AGGTS: And where can we find your shoes in stores (both in St. Louis and L.A.)?

Katelyn: In Saint Louis go to CHA on Clayton Road in Ladue and Susan Lynns in Town and Country at Clayton and 141 with the polka dot awnings. Both stores are amazing and the people that run them are even more amazing. You are sure to have wonderful shopping experience at both places.

In L.A., we are at Em & Co on 3rd street right in the Fairfax District! This store is so awesome, they had our first fashion show for us during LA Fashion week in '09, we love them.

AGGTS: What are your plans for the future?

Katelyn: BIG ONES! NO SMALL PLANS MADE HERE. in upcoming months we are THRILLED about our boots coming and flats and closed toed pumps to follow. We are getting ready to be featured on a international webisode that will expand our borders tremendously. We are definitely an international brand and I am thrilled to hear stories of customers from all parts of the world. The customized part will always be there, we will always give our customers the option to decide exactly what they want and create with us. We will be doing another line that is not customized and a lower price point but with all the elements of our line now, timeless, wonderful, head turning, sexy shoes. We are on a mission to spread the love and joy of fashion we have in every day life and hopefully all women will want to "Start with their shoes!"

I really can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed meeting the incredible women behind KM2 shoes. Here are a few more pictures, including the boots Katelyn mentioned. They are amazing!

I had such a blast meeting Katelyn and Mattison and I hope you enjoyed learning about KM2 shoes as much as I did.

But wait! That's not all! The sisters behind KM2 shoes have been kind enough to offer an exclusive 20% DISCOUNT to my readers! Once you decide to order a pair of KM2 shoes all you have to do is email info@km2shoes and give them the code AGGTS which will be good for 20% off! Amazing stuff, right?

GIVEAWAY! GIVEAWAY! GIVEAWAY!

generously agreed, to give one lucky lady a FREE pair of KM2 shoes OR $200 worth of accessories!!! Super amazing stuff, right??? Okay now here is what you have to do.

Let's all take a moment of silence to revel in the amazingness of that oh so mythical creature, the Unicorn.

Not THAT kind of unicorn silly! I'm talking about this bad boy.

Yeah that's right. Shoe porn at it's finest. As a matter of fact my first words to my colleague after spying these shoes were "I think I just had my first shoegasm." OMG are these TO.DIE.FOR. or what? The d'Orsay styling, the ruffle detail, and the spiral (unicorn horn) shaped heel. Ultimately I decided these were a must have so I took the plunge and pre-ordered them. LOL. I couldn't help myself. Oh they are so dreamy. Gah! I can't wait to wear them. Now I just need help breaking the "new shoes" news to my husband.

Thank you so much to everyone who has left comments and good wishes on Friday's post. It's not too late to enter to win that gorgeous Tolani scarf. If you haven't already be sure to leave a comment about how you'd style it. The winner will be chosen on Wednesday.

But that's not all folks. I've got a second giveaway lined up and this one is brought to you by Tszuji. Tszuji is THE place for shoe storage. Based in the U.K. , they are Europe's only shoe storage company. They have bought and tested 100's of products in order to bring you the very best. And thanks to the wonderful generosity of Glendon (THE man behind Tszuji) you have the chance to win 20 of their clear shoe storage boxes. Here is a bit about them.

"The ONLY Interlocking Clear Shoe Boxes available - why is this so important?

Our unique interlocking tabs stop your clear shoe boxes from sliding about when they are stacked.

Interlocking Stacking is a must. Our interlocking clear shoe boxes can be stacked as high as you need them to be. The real difference is, unlike others, our shoe boxes will not slide around while you are getting to your shoes and that's only one reason they are the best Clear Shoe Boxes available.
  • Clear A Grade Plastic - anything less and your shoe boxes will cloud and darken over time. Guaranteed 0.8mm thickness. Make sure you buy no less.
  • Easy Access from either end - open, grab your shoes and close - there's no fiddle and it's fast too!
  • Ventilation Holes - on both sides of the clear shoe storage boxes ensuring maximum airflow.
  • Handle - clear box handles are designed never to slip out when you are carrying them."
Just leave a comment about how you store your shoes and I will use the random number integer to pick a winner. But hurry you only have from now until Friday, June 26 to enter for your chance to win. This contest is open to U.S. and U.K. residents only. Good luck!

Oh and JGeb over at Dashboard Obsessions asked me to do a guest post while she is on vacation. Be sure to check it out here.

Happy Blogoversary to Me!

Yay, yay, yay, yay!!!! I must say I can hardly believe it. A Girl's Guide to Shoes turn 1 today. Never in my wildest imagination did I fathom how truly enjoyable this experience would be. I don't want to get carried away but I do want to say a few quick things.

First and foremost a big "Thank You!" is in order. Thank you to all of you. Especially those of you who are subscribers and followers and those of you who visit the blog on a daily or regular basis. Without you there would be no A Girl's Guide to Shoes.

Also a HUGE thank you goes out to my commenters. I appreciate you all SO much. You have no idea how excited I get when I see someone has left a comment. It's all about this silly sense of self-validation. It's like wow. They liked what I like. Keep em coming. And for all of you lurkers out there speak up every once in a while. I would love to hear from you!'

Finally I am truly grateful for the friendships and connections I've made. I heart all my fellow fashionistas and shoe lovers and blogging cohorts and hope that one day we're able to meet face to face and go shoe shopping, of course!

Okay on to the good stuff. My first contest! Brought to you by chickdowntown.com! If you aren't already familiar with chickdowntown.com then you should be. This is a fabby fab website that has a deeelightful selection of designer dresses. I especially love the Bora Bora dress by What Comes Around Goes Around; a vintage-inspired contemporary line that includes a variety of pieces from tunics and flowy blouses to adorable summer dresses.

Now thanks to the wonderful generosity of the staff at chickdowntown.com you can be the lucky owner of this tres delicious scarf by Tolani Scarves. Ugh. So wishing I could get in on this.

To win just leave a comment telling me how you would style this pretty little piece. I will pick a winner using the random number integer (seems the most fair) and then "Voila!" the scarf is yours. The contest runs from today through Wednesday, June 25. Valid for US residents only. Good luck!

If you are loving chickdowntown as much as I am then be sure to follow Amy the owner on twitter and if you're on facebook join their fan page here. Apparently Amy loves to giveaway giftcards and lots of other free stuff.
