A Follow Up to The Rant

Here are some more cheap chic alternatives to yesterday's post. Let's go over this again just in case I wasn't clear.

Unacceptable

Does This Bother Anyone Else?

Flip flops. Now don't get me wrong. Flip flops don't bother me. But what does bother me is the fact that the flip flop has become an acceptable form of footwear to pair with a dress. Like for going out. Or church. Or a party. Ummm, no! This has been driving me crazy for quite some time and I would really like to know if I'm alone or perhaps... not alone... In order to solve this problem I am planning to show some chic alternatives to the cursed flip flop. There is a time and a place people! But flip flops do not dress up an outfit. Ever. (Before continuing please let me say I am talking specifically about the type of flip flop that is made out of that weird sort of foam rubber material. The kind that you can find at Old Navy for $3 and quite frankly no amount of bling added to said flip flop makes these okay to wear for a dressy occasion.)

First here are a couple examples of what is NOT acceptable.

Don't be fooled. I know these are shiny. Still. No.

Now I took the liberty of browsing the selections at payless.com in case the reasoning behind this horrible debacle of a trend is cost. Spend a few more dollars on an actual shoe and I promise you won't regret it.

Rock Star Jelly Stone Sandal

Pretty, right? Do you see the difference?

Mork mirrored sling

I've featured these before. For good reason. They are a great CHIC and CHEAP alternative to "you know what".

Hot Trends - Pay Less

They're here! (Said in my best creepy little girl from Poltergeist voice). Although this wonderful occurrence is anything BUT scary.

Umm, can you say FIERCE??? That's right ladies Christian Siriano's line for Payless has hit the website and they may just be in a store near you. Although why chance it? Just go to the site where you know they'll have them. And do you wanna hear the best part? Payless is having their BOGO sale right now. So if you are like me and are having trouble deciding between the top pair and the bottom pair just get both. I mean we have the economy to think of, right? Oh and I've taken the liberty of finding a coupon code for an additional 20% off. Just type in 28294 at check out. Don't worry I tested it first to make sure it works. Happy shopping everyone!

Mini Wedge, Mini Price

Yes. I've been talking about the mini wedge A. LOT. lately. Nothing wrong with that, I say. It just so happens that I was browsing around payless.com last evening and I came across these little beauties. A mini wedge for a mini price? What's not to love?

Mork Mirrored Sling

Payless calls this bronze. I'm calling it gold. I am a bit obsessed with finding THE perfect gold mini wedge for the season and these just about fit the bill. A sling back instead of an ankle strap. Check. Flirty t-strap details. Check. The "Mork" is cheap chic at its best and with the padded in sole you'll be strutting your stuff in comfort AND style.

Scarlet Fringe Sandal

How fun is this sky blue mini in all of it's fringey goodness? A gorgeous hue that is sure to help you embrace the blues. This sweetly layered fringed beauty will have you on trend and leave you plenty of extra pocket change to boot.

Frugal Friday Continues...

There were so many adorable shoes at Payless that I just had to continue my Frugal Friday post into today. Enjoy the rest of my top picks!

These wedges are FAB-U-LOUS. The playful details on each wedge evokes a chicness that makes these look much more expensive then they are. The Caruth features a luxurious satin upper in a loverly shade of gray and a sweet little peep toe. Don't you just love that checked pattern? The Caruth also comes in Navy. The Palmetto is equally luxurious with it's linen upper and sassy peep toe and that patent and woven twine detail gives these an extra boost of attitude.

This cut out wedge from Abaete' for Payless is my favorite. I adore the woven ribbon detail and the sweet peep toe. The upper is canvas and the ribbon is grosgrain. D'orsay styling and that cool architechtural detailing on the wedge heel really up the style quotient.

Arcady Birdseye Bow Slingback

I have to say I am really loving these designer lines for Payless and this slingback is certainly no exception. A 3.75 inch stiletto heel , a fabric upper, and the frayed ribbon detail combine to create a truly lovely shoe.

Wyatt Gladiator Slingback

A 4.5 inch heel all but guarantees you will be strutting your stuff in style in this gladiator sandal. This is a great nude hue. Just imagine how gorgeous and long your legs will look when you step out in these. You could pair these with absolutely everything. This is a shoe that you will reach for again and again. It's edgy, it's feminine, it's perfect.

Frugal Friday

Today I thought I'd post another edition of Frugal Friday. This edition is brought to you once again by Payless. Payless is featuring some incredibly cute styles right now AND what makes things even better is that they are currently having a sale of up to 30% off select Spring merchandise. See below for some of my top picks. If you do find a pair or two or three that you love I highly suggest ordering from the website. I know when I've tried to find some of the styles in the store I haven't been able to. Happy shopping everyone! (Fair warning, not all pairs featured are on sale. Remember I did say select.)

Who needs a boat when you've got these adorably nautical inspired finds? Both are ultra feminine. The first, a seersucker wedge adorned with woven ribbon detail and a satin upper. The second, a fabric flat featuring tiny polka dots and a sweet bow to decorate the tops of your toes.

Look pretty in pink (coral) with these beauties. The Jorja Slingback with it's shiny patent leather and jeweled accent will add a fab pop of color to your spring basics and the Sassy Espadrille will have you kicking up your heels in comfort and style.

Cara Scrunch Bow Flat

Pretty, pretty green in rich shades of mint and sage. Adore the Carmelita Peep Toe. The contrast leather piping and flirty bow paired with a fabric upper and 3.5 inch heel. The Cara Flat looks fabulously comfortable and the package is all tied up with a pretty knotted bow.

Stay tuned everyone. Tomorrow promises even more offerings as Frugal Friday continues into Saturday. Y'all come back now, ya hear?

Frugal Friday

You work hard for your money. It's the end of a long work week and what better way to end it than treating yourself to a pair or two of sandals that are fabulous yet they won't break the bank. I was taking a gander at the finds on Payless.com and here are a few of my faves. I know it's a little early in the year to be purchasing sandals but imagine the oodles of time you'll have to think of all the outfits you can pair them with come Spring!

Sydnee Gladiator

Metallics, and buckles, and straps, oh my! This looks like a great shoe for an even better price. A beautiful brushed gold hue that would look stunning against tanned legs. This gladiator sandal even features a padded insole for added comfort. Not too shabby, eh?

I love that these sandals come in this great purple color. The simplest of square studs dots the top of your foot and that's all you need to look fabulous and chic for a bargain basement price.

Vallin Sandal

The intricate woven design makes this pair looks much more expensive than they really are. These come in a variety of colors. Besides the pewter, pictured above, you can find them in gold and silver.

So go on. Grab yourself a fistful of dollars and pick up a pair or two today!

Riding Boots - Cheap and Chic

A fair warning before I begin my post. Things are CRAAZZZZZYYYY at work so I can't promise lots of blog love this week but I will try my best my fine friends. Now on to the important stuff. It's no secret that riding boots are all the rage right now. I blogged about this hot little trend a while back and I gave you some options in the platinum, gold, and ATM range. Well since I know it's no secret that many of us are pinching pennies these days I've scoured the internet and found some stylish finds for... drum roll please... under $50! I think you could scrounge up the money to pay for these in your couch, or your car seats, or your change jar.

Merona - Kathy Riding Boot

A stylish little boot from Tar-jay. The buckle details at the ankle and shaft are spot on. I love the slight curve at the top. Simple and chic. I love these.

Morgan Riding Boot

Payless is really stepping up their game lately and this little boot is certainly helping their cause. These are little heavier, a little more rough around the edges than the Merona Kathy and I like it. Again we have great buckle detailing at the ankle and shaft. There is a great traction sole and the heel will give you just a smidge of height. I also really like how the "leather" looks a little distressed, a little worn in.

I love the seaming on this pair of boots from Jacque Pe-nay. The Jacque Pe-nay gets a bad rap and I'm not really sure why. I've found some incredibly cute things there and I truly believe that if they changed their name to the above moniker they could really up their ante. Seriously. The best part is that these are made from actual leather and I kind of cheated a little bit. The regular price of these beauties is $110 but they are currently on sale for a mere $44.99. Amazing, I know. So hurry and snatch yourself up a pair. There are still a ton of sizes left.

Buy Designer and Payless

More and more designers these days are teaming up with retail giants to put out affordable fashion for the masses. You have Isaac Mizrahi for Target, Vera Wang for Kohl's, AND Lela Rose, and Abaete for Payless. I know many budgets are tight these days and I am loving these designer lines for Payless. All of the haute little details will have everyone wondering where you got those amazing kicks. If you want to get a leg up on the hot trends this season with out breaking the bank check out these fabulous finds below.

Trend - Bows

Brightly bowed wool pump that will kick your wardrobe into high gear.

Finch Pump, Lela Rose for Payless

Sure to amp up that LBD. Ugh, that bow detail on the heel is to die for.

Lela Rose for Payless Sanborn Bow Flat

A luxurious satin upper topped with a perfect bow and d'orsay styling on the side. Comfortable and affordable, simply perfect.

Trend - Slouchy Boots

Studded boot, Abaete for Payless

Studded, slouched and fabulous, not to mention a great buy, what more could a girl want?

Trend - Hardware

Nell Pleated Peep Toe, Abaete for Payless

I love the contrast here of the girly pleated crepe upper and peep toe and the striking silver studs.

Stud Pump, Abaete for Payless

A pleated crepe and faux leather upper meet cheeky hardware and a 4 inch stiletto heel.

Trend - Bootie

Abaete for Payless pleated bootie

I can hardly believe these are from Payless. The pleated details and gray color really up the style quotient.

Trend - 60's Mad Men

Lela Rose for Payless Fullerton Pump

A rounded toe, a tortoise shell embellishment, and 3.5 inch heel... so chic.
