And the Winner Is...

Since 2002 Stuart Weitzman, Founder and Designer behind Stuart Weitzman shoes has been creating shoes exclusive for the Oscars called "The Red Carpet Collection". The 2011 collection features over 35 elegant styles for celebrities and their stylists to choose from. Celebrities that have been seen sporting these gorgeous designs this awards season include Jewel, Norah Jones, Julianne Hough, Christina Hendricks and Julia Stiles. Following the Oscars, select styles from the collection will be available for purchase in the fall 0f 2011 at the Stuart Weitzman retail store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

Recently, I had the unique opportunity to ask the man himself a few questions about this endeavor.

AGGTS: I know you've been designing shoes exclusively for the Oscar Red Carpet since 2002, what triggered the idea?

Stuart Weitzman: We call it our Red Carpet Collection. The celebrities and stylists are our most discerning customers, so I thought that I should give them a sneak peak at what is to come for Fall. The shoes are always new, fresh styles that the public has not yet seen.

AGGTS: What was the inspiration behind this year's collection?

Stuart Weitzman: I was inspired by simplicity and throw-back glamour. You'll notice that the silhouettes are simple but what makes them so beautiful are the materials we've done them in.

AGGTS: What red carpet trends are you loving this season?

Stuart Weitzman: I'm loving the extreme platforms. They don't raise the pitch, but they still give a nice lift.

AGGTS: What types of trends in shoes do you see most actresses gravitating towards?

Stuart Weitzman: The extreme platforms. The women love to be tall, and the added height can also be used for practical purposes, such as if she's wearing a sweeping gown.

AGGTS: Who do you think will earn this year's best actress nod?

Stuart Weitzman: I think Natalie Portman will win.

The Pinot Grigio

Mmmm, pinot grigio is probably my favorite white grape variety. I was thrilled to open the box and find this. I brought this over to my good friend/hairstylist's apartment for a night of hair stylin and a feast of Indian food. Wine, a new hair style, Indian food - sound's like the perfect night doesn't it?

We cracked open the bottle and found the delicate touch of sweetness paired perfectly with our spice filled feast. Notes of bright tropical citrus fruit tickled our taste buds and this wine was deemed a pleasantly fresh and wonderful addition to our evening. I will be adding flipflop pinot grigio to my regular rotation, especially come summer. It is ideal for sipping poolside.

Perhaps, while wearing these...

The Pinot

The second wine to tickle my taste buds from flipflop, this pinot grigio was right up my alley. This wine opened up beautifully after about 10 minutes or so. Bright, vibrant, spicy this wine is wonderful on its own. I happened to enjoy it as a pre-dinner drink before a night out on the town.

And I'm sure it would work wonderfully paired with these!

A Girl's Guide to Shoes Wine Review?

Imagine my delight when I was contacted by a representative for flipflop wines asking me if I would be interested in reviewing a few of their products. If there is anything I like as much as shoes it's wine ;) I was sent three different wines. A riesling, a pinot grigio, and a pinot noir. Throughout this week I will be reviewing all three.

You should know when it comes to wine I am not a snob in any way. In fact the less expensive the better. I do believe you can find good quality wines for less than $10 dollars and flipflop wines proves just that.

I'm not typically a fan of rieslings. I tend to find them too sweet. I am most definitely a reds kind of girl. But this riesling was very well balanced with hints of melon hitting the tongue. It was not too sweet at all. Easy to drink with a smooth finish, this riesling managed to hit all the right notes.

Now, here's a cool fact about flipflop wines. They are only about $7 each and flipflop has teamed up with the charity Soles4Souls. For every bottle sold flipflop will distribute a pair of shoes to someone in need. How great is that? To learn more feel free to visit the site here.

Oh and since I couldn't end this post without a shoe. I found these little beauties from Nine West. The perfect pairing for the flipflop riesling wouldn't you say?

Pin Up

Sam Edelman - Kellan

Within the last year Sam Edelman has really been amping up the "WOW!" factor. The design team should be applauded, perhaps even a standing ovation is in order. The Kellan is certainly no exception. The t-strap at the vamp and keyhole peep toe hint towards a pin up girl vibe but that 5 inch stiletto heel reads 2011 all the way. The blush color will keep you on trend and make it so your legs go on for miles. What's not to love?

Holy $h!t

Goodnight! These are amazeballs! Like x100. Structural and deliciously unique, you will look good coming and going. So, so stunning from the contrasting fabric and leather upper to that wedge that just makes my heart go pitter patter. A girl can dream...right?

A Layer of Lace

Hey! Happy Valentine's Day! If you're in to that kind of thing. If you aren't then Happy Monday!

Linnet - Report Signature

It's a day of love. Wouldn't these be just perfect for your wedding day? Or any day? Goodness I love, love, love these. A strong vintage vibe paired with a sky high, sexy, stiletto heel. A gorgeous beige lace overlay is like icing on the cake. Gimme.

Dreamy

Dear me. You would think I'd have died and gone to heaven. No. Wait. Scratch that. Because if I had died and gone to heaven these little beauties would be on my feet right now. The bow. The rhinestones. The mesh fabric. The flirty pink hue. I am officially undone.

The New Dany

There is something about this new offering by the Jessica Simpson team that has me thinking they are destined to be this season's Dany. Could definitely see Fashion Toast or The Shoe Girl rocking these bad johnny's and maybe just possibly me. I sort of love them now and that love could certainly grow.

Jessica Simpson - Kale (Grey Suede)

Stripper chic? I kid. I kid. You know I love height as much as the next girl. Plus I really dig these. So structured yet sexy. What do you think? Is the Kale destined to be the new Dany?

Woven

Mark & James by Badgley Mischka, Suede Platform Sandal

Here is a hot little shoe from Badgley Mischka's contemporary line that has managed to work its way into my psyche. Every time I see it I love it just that much more. Despite the fact that we have been seeing recessed platforms more and more in recent years it is still a look that feels fresh and new to me. My favorite detail, however, is the intricately woven suede. It's deliciously delicate and deceptively rich.

My Birthday is Coming Up

Well yes while technically that is true I still have a good 3+ months until the actual day. But, that doesn't mean I can't start making my wish list. Am I right or am I right?

Here are two pairs by Stuart Weitzman to start out. Since asking for both seems greedy I'm going to enlist your assistance to help me choose.

Nude, slingback, floral embellishment at the toe, 5 inch stiletto heel, 1 1/4 inch textured platform. Sheer perfection.

Stuart Weitzman - Wessex

Sculptured conical heel, double platform, slingback, snake embossed animal print leather. Utter sex appeal.

Leave a comment and tell me which one I should put on my birthday list or vote in the poll below.

Color Blocked

Penny Loves Kenny - Tetra in Lavendar

Snow. Ice. Ice. Snow. Blizzards. Wind. Fuhgeddaboudit. We've got pretty shoes to look at. Been seeing LOTS of color block patterns around the ol' interwebs. I'm loving it. Such a fun way to incorporate a bold pop of color to those soft hued neutrals for spring.
